Dua is in suspension until durood is not sent on Rasulullah [ Peace Be upon Him ]

By: Maulana Muhammad A K Azad [Abu Arif Al Alawi ]

Darood  Shareef is of immense importance. It so vital that acceptance of our Dua is made dependant on it. But we overlook it and do not implement it in our lives . Nowadays, Kharizi  Bidatis  are trying to pooh-pooh its importance. Muslims should not fall in the traps of these bidatees  and should send  salutations to the prophet [ Peace Be upon Him ] whenever possible or whenever  his name  is mentioned.  We are presenting below some hadeethes on the importance of Darood Shareef regarding acceptance of dua:

Hadeeth No. 01:  ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Du’aa’ is detained between the heavens and the earth and no part of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 486; classed as hasan by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 403).

Hadeeth No. 02: A person stood up and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Should I make half of my prayers upon you?’ He [ Peace Be upon Him ]  replied: “If you wish”. He then asked, “Should I make two-thirds of my prayers upon you?” He replied: “If you wish”. He then asked, “Should I not make all of my prayers upon?” He[ Peace Be upon Him ]   replied:”In that case, Allah would suffice you in your needs of this world and the Hereafter!”(Reported by al-tirmidhi and authenticated by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith al-Albani in Sahih al-Jami # 57 & Dua the weapon of the believer, Page 67-68]

About the above hadith, Salafi Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said : Our Shaykh Abu ‘Abbaas (i.e., Ibn Taymiyah) was asked about the meaning of this hadeeth. He said: Ubayy ibn Ka’b had a dua that he used to say for himself, and he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) whether he should make one-quarter of it sending blessings on him, and he said … because whoever sends blessings on the Prophet, Allah will send blessings on him tenfold, and if Allah sends blessings on a person He will take care of his concerns and forgive him his sins”.[ Jala’ al-Afhaam – 79]

Hadeeth No. 03: The Prophet [ Peace Be upon Him ]  said : “Every dua is covered until (the person) prays (salat) upon the prophet” [ Peace Be upon Him ]  . [ Al-Nasai and Ibn Hibban and al-Dalylami and  it is authenticated in Sahih al-jami # 4523). The Dua is ‘covered’ meaning that it is not raised up to Allah until the person making the dua accompanies it with the prayer upon the Prophet[ Peace Be upon Him ]

Hadeeth No. 04:    Faddaalah ibn ‘Ubayd (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard a man making du’aa’ in his prayer without glorifying Allaah or sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘This man is in a hurry.’ He called him and said to him or to someone else, ‘When anyone of you makes du’aa’, let him start by glorifying his Lord and praising Him, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), then let him pray for whatever he wants.’” (Abu Dawood (1481) and al-Tirmidhi (3477) . This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith al-Albani al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1314).

Hadeeth No. 05: The Prophet [ Peace Be upon Him ]  said :  “If any of you supplicates then let him begin with the praise of God then send peace and blessings upon the Prophet (pbuh) then let him supplicate for whatever he wants. (Tirmidhi, Hadeeth No.3477, This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith  al-Albaani in Saheeh Abu Daood 1314]

Hadeeth No. 06 :   Hazrat  ‘Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Every du’aa’ is not responded to until one sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).” This was narrated by Baqiy ibn Mukhallid from ‘Ali in a marfoo’ report, i.e., it was attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). (Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Shu’ab al-Eemaan . This hadeeth was classed as authentic by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 4523)

May Allah make it our habit to should send our salutations to the prophet ( Peace Be Upon Him) whenever possible or whenever his name mentioned  and in every dua. The Beloved Prophet ( Peace Be Upon Him) said : “The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who send the most blessings on me.” [Classed as hasan by Wahabi  Kharizi Muhaddith al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb.]
